Connecting Neighbours to Build Stronger Communities

Founded in 2026, Martinson Publications is a family-owned publishing company with one mission: connecting neighbours to build stronger communities.

After recognizing a growing need for accessible, community-focused communication in Southeast Edmonton, we were proud to be approved to publish the Edmonton Southeast Community Voice Newspaper. With our first publication launching in August, we are excited to continue building a publication that informs, connects, and celebrates the people and organizations that make our communities thrive.

At the heart of Martinson Publications is a passion for local engagement, grassroots storytelling, and meaningful community connection. Our goal is to provide a publication that feels welcoming, relevant, and truly reflective of the neighbourhoods it serves — combining a modern approach with the familiar charm of community journalism.

A key part of that vision comes from Gavin Martinson’s decades of involvement in Edmonton’s community league network. Gavin has served in leadership roles at the local, district, and city-wide levels, including work with community leagues, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, parent councils, youth sports, and numerous volunteer initiatives throughout the city. His longstanding reputation for community advocacy, collaboration, and people-first leadership has helped shape the foundation of Martinson Publications. Through years of supporting neighbourhood initiatives, working alongside volunteers, and advocating for community resources, Gavin has developed a deep understanding of what helps communities succeed — and how important clear, trusted communication is in bringing people together.

Martinson Publications was created not simply as a business venture, but as an investment in community connection. We believe local stories matter. We believe neighbours should know what’s happening around them. And we believe community organizations and local businesses deserve an affordable and effective platform to reach the people they serve.

As we move forward, our commitment remains simple:

  • Support local communities

  • Celebrate local accomplishments

  • Strengthen neighbourhood connections

  • Provide timely, relevant, and engaging information

  • Maintain a grassroots community feel while embracing thoughtful growth and modernization

We look forward to serving Southeast Edmonton for many years to come.
